Nowhere regarding the mp3 codec (afaik, of course) there are masses of low wage workers required for data tagging for it to work. So no.
Absolutely. That is by all means not an exhaustive list. The shit pile is much higher than that and I regularly forget half of it.
Oh yeah and long term it will cause a massive issue in the workforce since now the junior positions are basically removed and supposedly replaced by AI (but that’s just a very convenient excuse) and at some point we’ll run out of experienced people.
For this the tech bros envision and sell the upcoming AGI which will never arrive though based on this technology as every expert will currently confirm.
But what do they care about messing it up for all of us, they’re already the richest there are so sucks to be us.
It’s built on ‘slave’ labor, illegal use of content and additionally using unbelievable amounts of power so the environmental concerns go right out of the window at a time where we should do everything to not do that.
Also, AI, even if it’s the currently established term has absolutely nothing to do with neither intelligence nor sentience but is being sold as AGI (overpromised).
This has caused huge masses of investment to gather which will pop at some point, causing all of us massive issues due to the missteps of a few.
It works for both of them.
Cut, awk, Sed, tee
Would be the standard set for me besides egrep. But of course I have to say awk could do it mostly alone 😉
Oh watch and time too, of course.
Being free of the crushing grip of capitalism.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•People who don't have much friends: Do you think you would've have a better social life if the internet didn't exist?
5·5 天前No.
But it would still help.
(due to social media bubbling)

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•I don't remember any technology being pushed as hard as AI
45·5 天前If all you have is a hammer, everything is a nail.
And sunken cost fallacy. Pretty much sums it up.
Peace and harmony.
Not in the hippie way, but just calm and mostly quiet, no chaos.
Yeah the world isn’t for me.
Already died once. The second time will be fine.
And not only reddit, but the internet as a whole.
As a masking Autist I approve. I was shopping today, that’s enough for a week.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it true that one of the reasons VHS beat Betamax was porn?
7·9 天前I’m also not really old enough, but I thought it was license costs (as usual with Sony).

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•How Lemmy users feel when they delete their Reddit account
1·10 天前I just abandoned it years ago. ‘deleting’ the account won’t do much of anything than not displaying the account to user side anymore or move it to a internal only database. At least that’s what I would do if I could and companies regularly do much worse.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Google is replacing Discover news headlines with laughably awful AI-generated titles
1·11 天前Oh that thing. That unasked for news crap, yeah I turned that off first thing on any mobile I use.
Not everything, like illnesses and disorders.
I mostly still agree.

I might be thinking in too simple terms but… Vlc (on android) can do everything and has no ads?
