We do have a shitty ai data center up here, only about as super as a supermarket tho.

Any and all AI shite enabled by default rather than the opposite with a prompt asking me if I want to enable it
There’s a toggle to disable all of it with a single click, why do I need to go fishing for it?

So wait, what happens to all the chapels in hospitals and such? Or is this solely applicable to universities/cegep and not much else?
Which is still convoluted considering the McGill campus is both an educational facility and a hospital so which way does that lean…?

I think the latter scenario is more likely. Then they can claim “look, we got rid of the guy that did it” and continue with whatever agenda the actual folks in charge are following with a new figurehead.

I don’t think I agree with “time” being an artificial construct…. Hours, minutes and whatnot… sure. But “time” itself passes regardless of us attributing any sort of label or measurement to it.
Clocks are definitely artificial constructs meant to represent that idea.
I feel calendars are much more arbitrary though, many existed before, many exist today, many will exist in the future. Not only can they be used to represent anything in any direction, cosmic, imaginary or perceived, but they can start and end at any point you’d want them to, represented in a medium and interpretation of your choice.

“So why’d you shove the sloppificator into every conceivable nook and cranny?”
“We did it for the lulz”

TLDR: Supporter packs and game soundtrack as “dlc” is basically free money

Appreciate the kind words. I have had various approaches to try and “treat” this over the course of the last 15+ years, including the ones you named, like I mentioned, not exactly a new phenomena on my end.
If there was a suicide booth or a euthanasia clinic for people who just want to peace out, I’d have visited it 15+ years ago or any day since then, including today.
Also while I understand the notion that access to substances and firearms and whatnot might increase the risks of impulsive momentary courage (or stupidity), an average home and convenience store offer many items which can effectively facilitate the deed, don’t need to be super elaborate with hugging a grenade or slobbering on the barrel of a shotgun for an effective method… granted if the plan is to go out with a bang, who am I to stop it.
Sucks about the tumor though. May you easily outlive the expectations if you so desire

I can see where you’re potentially coming from.
But I don’t think you comprehend how violent an act of suicide is in almost all cases.
It takes an insane level of commitment to go through with that the first time, more so for the subsequent attempts.
Also of the people who really aim to end it, succeed on the first try.
I don’t know about you, but if given the choice, I probably wouldn’t be here. There’s nothing particularly wrong with me physically, I just don’t want to be here.
Been the case over a decade ago. Pretty much back as long as I can remember. Still the case today.
I do agree with the point that a humane way out will probably have a net positive impact in almost all cases. Especially if it comes with “here’s a list of things you should consider doing to lessen the impact on your family and significant other” or something of the sort. Needless to say, but should be entirely optional.
I don’t think I agree with the “other treatments” mentality though. That just sounds like what the Americans are doing with their abortion clinics trying to emotionally blackmail people into not aborting their child by forcing you to listen to heartbeats and look at ultrasounds.

And shouldn’t need to be terminally ill or old.
If I wanna peace out (humanely) at any age past adulthood, I should be able to.

Vampire survivors.

Very few of them do, grand majority are just game key cartridges.
Same here and the battery is holding up pretty well even after all these years which is a nice surprise
I guess they took the L in more ways than one

Seen a bit of a rise of those sort of people since moltbook or whatever it’s called emerged, trying to sucker people into believing the random bullshit generator is sentient or cognizant of its assets in any way.
What’s worse homie said “nu-uh” it’s not statistical probability and then proceeded to describe a statistical probability mesh.
Might help a bit if we all stop slapping the AI term on everything and start calling things what they are such as scripting, large language models, cronjobs, etc.
Trying to argue with those people just makes me sad and tired :(

At least 2 layers.
LLMs don’t think. They copy paste something that’s been found repeatedly in the data it was trained on, statistical probability of words going with other words. Hell, it doesn’t even know what words are or much less mean. So it’s at least 2+ layers removed from the truth, one being the one you pointed out, and another being an amalgamation (mishmash) of the data it was trained on.

Place your bets how long before this is moved into the nottheonion sub

I still remember playing StarCraft 2 shortly after release on a 300$ laptop and it running perfectly well on medium settings.
Looked amazing. Felt incredibly responsive. Polished. Optimized.
Nowadays it’s RTX this, framegen that, need SSD or loading times are abysmal, oh and don’t forget that you need 40gb of storage and 32gb of ram for a 3 hour long walking simulator, how about you optimize your goddamn game instead? Don’t even get me started on price tags for these things.
Software and game development is definitely a spectrum though, but holy shit is the ratio of sloppy releases so disproportionate that it’s hard to see it at times.
Using the closet rod for that extra cable management
Perfection.
