Very creative, and I love the art. Well done!

Technology@lemmy.world•Lawsuit Alleges That WhatsApp Has No End-to-End EncryptionEnglish
27·2 months agoWhat’s stopping the app from keeping your private key and still not encrypting anything?
I’m not trying to be difficult here, I just don’t see how anything outside of an application whose source you can check yourself can be trusted.
All applications hosted by other people require you to react positively to “just trust me bro”.
This is a very low effort post that contributes nothing and stimulates no discussion outside of vague finger pointing.
Down voted.
Very disappointing when that happens, I agree - but that’s the risk we take as people who pre-order!
My nightmare pre-order was Star Citizen, to the point that I now despise Kickstarter.
I pre-order games I know I’d buy on launch. Some titles I just know I’ll play, regardless of reviews - E.g. Sequels to games I love like the Witcher 3 or any of the Dying Light games.
I’ll also do Early Access if I want to play the game early and am okay with jank, E.g. Hades 2, Windblown.
Looks great, good job!

Games@lemmy.world•Divinity - Cinematic Announcement TrailerEnglish
7·4 months agoNot to be pedantic, but your critique of the existence of an announcement trailer feels like walking into a pizza shop, ordering a pizza, then getting mad because you wanted a burger.
If you don’t like announcement teasers then don’t watch them and just wait for the reveal trailer to release?
It usually goes announcement -> teaser -> reveal -> the rest
That’s a great one. There really is an xkcd for everything.
The humor is bad, but that dog shit excuse for art is unforgivable IMO. Even if the jokes were good I’d rather look at something else.

2·5 months agoThere is no risk of others finding it if you don’t turn on federation. It becomes a fully private instance. Just set federation to false.
Been playing it solo for a day - I definitely avoid pvp where I can, and even do my best to help other Raiders if they’re chill.
It’s a good game.

Games@lemmy.world•Monster Hunter Wilds is getting outsold by its 4-year-old predecessorEnglish
6·5 months agoAnd they were posting the same articles while Rise was out.
Like, just pick one of the following titles for a pre-DLC monster hunter game and there’ll be low effort reporting written about it:
- Monster Hunter game too easy!
- Monster Hunter game too short!
- Monster Hunter game need more monster!
- Food videos were better in the last game!
- Last game had better mechanics, where is xxx
I love Wilds, think it’s the best MH game I’ve played since GU. Can’t wait for its expansion to drop. I’m ready for master rank.

Opensource@programming.dev•What FOSS projects do y'all donate to?
5·5 months agoMatrix. I use it as my primary form of communication so I thought I should give back. I also support via github sponsors some of the bridges I use on matrix.

10·5 months agoThey used to support Linux as a platform, but they ended up dropping it because the userbase was too small to warrant the additional development efforts. I think it was around 2015 they added Linux versions of their games, only to remove them in 2018ish?
Either way, it meant switching to Steam for me. I understand that it was a business decision, but it was a damn shame…
(All of this was pre-Galaxy.)

Games@lemmy.world•ARC Raiders Just Became Steam's Most Popular Extraction Shooter and It's Not Even CloseEnglish
2·6 months agoYep, which is precisely why it’s my favorite. I think it’s a really well balanced game. Now if it wasn’t for the crappy main menu UI (which, granted, they’ve really improved as of late) and the bizarre bugs (which they haven’t) it would be almost perfect.

Games@lemmy.world•ARC Raiders Just Became Steam's Most Popular Extraction Shooter and It's Not Even CloseEnglish
9·6 months agoAs a guy with over 2.5k hours in Hunt, I think it really comes down to people just enjoying different things. I can no longer play standard match based shooters, anymore, as I find the lack of consequence leads me to not caring about the outcome of games.
Incidentally I’ve also returned to playing Eve, because losing a level 50 hunter you spent a few hours leveling up? That’s nothing compared to losing a ship you spent half a year working towards.
Basically I’m addicted to lossy progression in games. Not claiming it’s an end-all-be-all mechanic, but damn if it hasn’t made me love games again.

3·6 months agoIt’s the install size of docker and any container it brings down with it.
Really, I just don’t like the idea of being forced to use something massive like docker for a single program.
Just give me a binary and let me set up hardening via systemd - or at least a source tarball or something.
Sincerely: someone who thinks software should not primarily be distributed through docker.

7·6 months agoReally didn’t like Immich because of its massive install size and being forced to use Docker - this project is exactly what I was looking for. One simple go binary with no extra hoops to get it up and running? Delicious.
Installed, will be following it for sure! Thanks for the excellent software.

Hello, I’ve had both of these boxes and they do mean one entire box (I’m surprised there are so many comments and no one is answering your question).
My recommendation is to halve the amount of liquid and meat, while keeping the vegetable amounts the same, and use half a box of curry roux (note: I always use a whole carrot, I’ve never use half). One box includes two packets with 4 vaccuum sealed cubes in each, so half a box is much easier to make than a quarter.
The flavor is the same, and it’s great. I’ve tried it and can confirm that if you use any less it’ll be a bit too watery. Likewise, if you use less than half then that means any leftovers will no longer be sealed (unless you use scissors while peeling off the plastic to preserve the seal on half a packet)
Here’s a source where you can double check the recipe.
Also, trust me when I say it isn’t too much. It produces a crazy amount of curry. Half a box is enough for one dinner, plus two servings of leftovers, for a single guy like myself. A full box is basically designed to feed a family.
