Television@piefed.social•Disney Spent More On ‘Andor’ Than Any Of Its ‘Star Wars’ Movies
8·21 days agoRogue One is gritty like Andor. We didn’t need more of the hero’s from the Skywalker storyline, we just needed new characters in the same universe.

6·2 months agoThis sounds like any sports video game where they advertise bringing out a new feature, that they silently removed from the previous version of the game.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•iCarly was a streamer before streaming was even really a thing.
6·2 months agoTom Green was on public access TV taking commentary from the internet. He was “live streaming” before most North Americans had internet.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Halo: Campaign Evolved announced for PS5, Xbox Series, and PCEnglish
2·2 months agoI really enjoyed halo infinity. They also can’t take away the thousands of hours i played in LAN parties and xbox live. It is sad that it is no longer the best party fps anymore, split screen is gone, and it is homogenized with every othet shooter since 2007.

8·2 months agoTypical Amazon undersells everyone else to remove competition. Then after everyone has gone under reminds you it is a terrible idea. Hopefully we see businesses get burnt more and determine it is better to self host, or even better yet not need half their services on “the cloud” anyways.

4·2 months agoYup, came here to say this is a spoiler for SOMA. Plenty of happy ethical issues here to unpack.
Wrapping it around your arm stretches and pulls at the inner cabling. It isn’t a single massive copper pipe in there, its numerous thin guage copper wires wrapped around each other. Wrapping it around your arm puts kinks and folds in the cable that eventually snap those little wires over time.
There was no exit plan, the individuals just kept racking up college debt. Debt collectors cannot come to collect the debt if you are still in college, and the college doesn’t care they are still getting the loan money. They were professional students and they “beat” the system.
I had a friend who worked at a call center to harass people about student loans. They said that one the job was great because one they learned about loop holes to defer loans for as long as possible, and two they had found out about professional students that just kept going to school and didnt have to pay their loans because they would just stay another semester and live off the college loans. If you are in the US, a single person, and were never going to save for retirement anyways… it was doable 15 years ago.
2007 was about as good as it ever got anyone who says otherwise wasn’t there. COD4 having perks was revolutionary for console shooters, TF2 is still played on PC, Mass Effect is dope as hell, and Halo 3 was the last good Halo game. Until I guess reach idk shooters preference.

Technology@lemmy.world•Amazon is making it impossible to remove the DRM from Kindle BooksEnglish
18·3 months agoI bought a digital movie from Amazon prime in 2015. It fell off and they didnt give me a refund. The music I got from a burnt CD in 2004 is still on the C: drive of my current PC. I don’t think it pays to do the right thing in the long run.
I screen shot and crop every meme i want to share from Lemmy. It is tedious.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Do we have a good solution for public survaillence cams and Facial Recognition yet?
1·3 months agoIn the past, individuals have cut down red light and speed cameras using power saws. Are you suggesting a laser would be easier to just burn the pixels of the camera? Wouldn’t that be dangerous for people around you?

My favorite comment on the national security strategy was “they did a better job of translating this from Russian than the demands for Ukraine peace talks.”
