Condolences for picking Samsung.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Whatever happened to the days when shit just...worked?English
3·9 hours agoNot just software, online updates. Even things that were computerized used to have a lot more QA effort put into them when fixing a bug meant having to physically ship a new product revision, or at least a new disk.
I like your atomic modern tree skirt.
They have Bluey branded apples now.
What kind of weird antique car do you daily that can’t handle E10 gas?
I mean, let’s be honest: the vast majority of people who insist on that don’t actually need it; they just think lower emissions are “woke” or some shit like that.
Sometimes they really are out to get you!
I’d been wanting to do it for years, but I was never willing to shell out the $$$ for a smart trainer until now. I guess $400 was the price that was finally cheap enough for me to stomach.

Android@lemdro.id•The $2,400 Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold sold out in minutesEnglish
3·1 day agoNever mind the tri-fold part; it’s ridiculous that anybody is stupid enough to buy Samsung’s DRM’d shit.
I joined Zwift today! I already did utility cycling, but it’s mostly using an e-bike so doesn’t provide all that much exercise. I think the gamification will help me stay motivated enough to actually do rides for fitness.
Advent of Code
One year I hope to remember that’s a thing that exists when it isn’t already several days into the month.
Pspsps until they come to you.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Installed Linux for the fist time in Feb, I've now started saving ISO's
49·2 days agoUh… you do know that people don’t literally save a bunch of Linux ISOs, right? It’s a euphemism for collecting less legit things, like pirated media or porn.
By the time you want to install the same distro again, it’s likely that a new version will be out and you’ll want to re-download it anyway.
Why the state of the industry is shit, in a nutshell.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What Youtube channel has maintained high quality standards over the years?
3·3 days agoMine is version 2.41.0, obtained from F-Droid.
To be fair, it could be some kind of user error – maybe the option does exist, but I’m not seeing it for some reason – but I don’t really think so.
Edit: Ah! It’s a setting! Settings →General → Other → Share Links. Mine is set to “Voyager App (vger.to)”, but there are also the other options you mentioned, as well as “ask” (which is presumably what yours is set to).
I’m pretty sure vger.to is the default (perhaps for new installs – I changed phones relatively recently), which is unfortunate, since I definitely didn’t change that setting.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What Youtube channel has maintained high quality standards over the years?
4·3 days agoMy Voyager app only seems to offer the vger.to link. It’s a recent change I’m not happy about.

That’s not a reasonable requirement of a salaried position. People might think it is, but they’ve been tricked.
Needing to work extra long hours occasionally during extra-busy times is one thing, but it should be balanced with being able to stop working early during slow times.
Or at least a manual that actually contained substantive information.

Workarounds like this are the “oh, this black eye? I just fell down some stairs” of software development.
