When I finished school and had my Bachelors, the only thing I thought was, “Glad I am done with that bullshit.”

I was lucky to do college debt free by going back years later and having a nest egg from years of working to pay off my costs, but so many kids go at 17 because that is what they are told to do and have debt for life from a degree that that they likely won’t use because they have never worked and don’t know where they want a career.

Now with AI taking away white collar jobs, I think it will be harder for kids to justify. Why would they put themselves through all that stress and work for no guarantee of a career?

I loved SmartTube, but I moved away from my Android TV when Google started saying they are not going to allow side loading apps. Google has walked back that policy a bit, but I am much happier now with my alternatives and the knowledge that Google can’t wreck them with their future bull shit.

That said SmartTube is a goat and it is sad to hear that such a great app has been compromised like this.

I agree, the biggest thing that stood out to me here is that they were afraid to fail. If students were focused on creating the work that appeals to them, rather than just the work that will get the highest grade, think of the creativity that could be explored. Instead students are just focused on saying the “right answers” and dont get to think critically about the material. Sad

It’s crazy to me that dudes are such creeps that they would do this just to pursue women rather than just try to date normally. So many cops are in that role for the wrong reasons. Major personality issues.

My vote here is a PC with Linux on it. I have a PC plugged into my TV that runs Bazzite. Got it for $170 at the second hand store. It’s even powerful enough to game on and I can connect a bluetooth controller

People will get killed in these things. I don’t trust a computer to drive me safely home. Give me a train or a bus instead driven by a real person.

I am a dad to two young kids. I know other guys my age that are recent dads and some of them do seem to struggle to adjust. I hear about their wives complaining about how they are constantly golfing or still going out a lot.

Another commenter here mentioned that having kids changes you and I 100% agree with that. I don’t drink now, I drive like an old man in the name of safety, I spend almost every night at home with my kids and I take them out on the weekends, I cut my hours at work so I can help my wife more often, I don’t watch sports because my kids won’t sit still long enough to watch a game and want to play. My life now is about these kids. I used to think that people that based their lives solely around their kids had no life, but now that I have these kids I appreciate the sacrifices you make to be a parent. All of these changes I realize are better for me too.

You can talk philosophically about how to raise kids, but I think the number one quality of a good parent is being present for your kids and being willing to adjust your life to what they need. Growing up the number one thing I noticed about kids that had bad relationships with their parents was their parents not being around, whether it be work or whatever else. You gotta be willing to dedicate your time to kids over all else, and if you can’t do that, it will be hard to be a good parent.
