Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the oldest video game you still find yourself playing?
5·2 days agoAbout once a year or so I go replay Morrowind, the chaddest of the Elder Scrolls series.
This past year I replayed Morrowind with Tamriel Rebuilt tacked onto it, which has been extremely cool and fresh. TR really feels like official content a lot of the time, it’s quite good and the love that’s been put into it is very apparent.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the oldest video game you still find yourself playing?
4·2 days agoCurrently playing FFVI myself. It’s a treat.
Bit easier than other Final Fantasy games, I’m finding… at least in the early game, Edgar and Sabin are ass-blasting everything in the game with very little resistance, those boys probably don’t even need the rest of the Returners squad. I know that will probably change later but the duo are definitely the MVPs of act 1.
I’m also of mixed opinion about the ability to teach every party remember every spell in the game. It’s obviously not the best idea, that I can’t stop myself from doing. Does Edgar or Gau need to know how to cast Bio or Slow or Rasp? No, not at all, and they’re probably better served leveling up with magicite that gives them useful stats. Will they learn those spells? You betcha.

2·6 days agoWell this particular guy was entrapped and arrested on false pretenses. He didn’t know ICE was at the door.
Otherwise, though, yeah agreed. If masked assailants come to my home with no badge and no warrant they are going to be considered home invaders and will be treated accordingly. Identify yourself or you will be shot.
I am happy to pay it so long as I have any sort of expectation that I will see a return from it.
It is becoming increasingly clear to working Americans that we will never see a dollar back out of the Social Security program when it comes time for us to need it.

News@lemmy.world•Minneapolis police chief warns officers: Stop unlawful force by ICE or lose your job
23·7 days agoBecause they’re still literally not doing their jobs.
As an example, let’s say I flip burgers for a living. You come in to my restaurant and order a cheeseburger. I then proceed to slap a hunk of raw ground beef and a slice of cheese down right on the counter in front of you. That’ll be $8.50, pay up.
You aren’t going to say “that’s progress!” you’re going to say “that’s not a fucking cheeseburger”.
Same here. Yeah, it is progress forward from the literal nothing that they were doing before. It still is not satisfactory progress that satisfies the basic job requirements of their chosen career.

27·11 days agoOn our left hand we have a party who, while generally spineless in the face of opposition, at least understands the general principles of governance and has an interest in continuing the lifespan of the country.
On our right hand we have a party aggressively campaigning that they should be allowed to shoot you in the face. Yes, you, personally.
I hope you have the day you vote for.

My friend (who is an engineer) pointed me at this a few years ago and I’ve been pleased with it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the story behind your username and avatar?
3·14 days agoThe name was originally chosen for nerd cred (for anyone who recognizes it - Atra esterní ono thelduin. Mor’ranr lifa unin hjarta onr. Un atra du evarínya ono varda.) but I later realized that it’s also great because it’s an actual word from an actual story and 99% of search engine results for my name are going to bring up that story and its wiki. It’s an extra layer of pseudo-anonymity that I enjoy.
The avatar was just cause it’s funny, I use this one all over the place.

5·17 days agoI remember a couple forums had a “thank” feature or something similar that would show, with your username, your approval for a post without having to make an additional post about it. No downvotes though, you had to speak up to be a hater. I think that was a fine middle ground.
