News@lemmy.world•Washington man arrested after fatally shooting teen who had BB gun
23·2 年前Hahaha no, he’s not even a “diet” cop (but I love that term), though he clearly fuckin thinks he is. I actually took a security guard training course when I was a teenager, and this motherfucker did everything they tell you not to do. If he saw a suspected threat, he should have called the cops and gotten to safety, according to the training. Even with a gun, you’re not supposed to use it. We got that training because guards who can wear firearms get paid more, and the agency training is would make more on us if we had our certs.
It was just middle-manager levels of power tripping, with a gun.

15·2 年前A set of excellent counterpoints. I’d also point out that “gun nut” is quite different than “2nd Amendment nutter”. You’re into guns. Maybe the mechanics, maybe the design aspect, maybe you enjoy shooting as a hobby, maybe all of the above and more. That’s fine, if you’re also a responsible gun owner who secures their weapon, does not leave it loaded when off your person, does not point it at something they don’t intend to destroy, and so on and so forth.
A “2nd Amendment nutter” thinks the 2nd Amendment absolves them of responsibility.

40·2 年前So, you know responsible gun owners - note I didn’t mention them. I’m happy they exist. But you don’t know every gun owner, or even a significant fraction of them, and if you believe nobody with a gun subscribes to the “good guy with a gun” fallacy then you’re delusional.

I’m buying this partly because it looks really good, and partly because ThePruld is the cinematic director and that motherfucker is a genius. If anyone has played Dark Souls and not seen We Are The Souls, I can’t recommend it enough. Also check out his other animations, they’re much sillier and the frantic Italian just makes it better.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why we gave up on learning how to play an instrument?
9·2 年前Man, most bands start as a group of friends playing together for fun. Yes, sucking isn’t fun - the fun comes from surmounting those obstacles and seeing yourself improve. I sucked at Dark Souls when I first picked it up, but I wanted to be good, so I sat down and practiced parrying against basic enemies until I could get it consistently. I suck at guitar too, it hurts my fingers and makes my hands cramp and it wasn’t worth it to me to push through that to get good.
You know what I did about it? I sold my guitar on craigslist and moved on. I didn’t go on the internet and whine about it, nor did I get impudent with people who took the time to offer me advice - really rather good advice, in this thread. Your attitude sucks. Adjust that, and then either sit down and practice or find a new hobby. Nobody gives a shit that being bad makes you sad.

3·2 年前On what are you basing that belief? I saw the post with the link to a podcast, as far as I’m concerned that’s an opinion; I’m looking for legal text stating that a felony conviction doesn’t count until sentencing.
